It is recommended you read more about this matter here before start working on the formula.

How it works?

The calculation of this formula is based on 1 second signal and the length of 300,000Km. Radio signals travel at the same speed as light. (The actual light speed is 299,792Km/s). On row 7 “signal stretched” means if the length of 1 second signal was 300,000Km originally, now after 1 light year is 300,000.103Km. The same signal occupies 0.103Km more space.

This does not mean that light speed at this stage is more , the light speed remains the same but the signal has started traveling sideways. After 2092 light years the signal is stretched sideways by approximately the same amount as its length, this means the total length of the signal is twice as its original length (approximately 600,000Km).
Row 1: You can change the diameter of the planet to a different planet, i.e. Mars is 6,790Km, Jupiter is 142,600Km.
Row 2: You can change the time of how long it takes the planet to make a full period of rotation on its own axis in hours, i.e. Mars 24.59 hours, Jupiter 9.90 hours approx.
Row 3: Enter the distance from the transmitter in light years, how far the signal travels. If the distance that you want to major is smaller than 1 light year then enter a fraction of 1 light year for example if the distance is 1 light day then enter 0.0027397 (1 divided by 365).
Row 4: If the transmitter is traveling on the planet, i.e. the transmitter is on an airplane or on the car or is a satellite circling the earth and is traveling from east to west (enter 500Km) or west to east (enter -500Km)
Row 5: On what latitude of the planet this transmitter is located, i.e. Sydney = 33.88, New Orleans = 30, London = 51.5. You need to enter degree in decimal points format, not in Minute and Second formats. You can download the converter from this page.
Row 6, 7 & 8: Do not make any changes to last three rows, these are output cells that give the results, any changes will erase the output.
